Dr. Annie

The infamous, weird mascot of UCI, the anteater.
Annie is a co-worker (I guess I should say former co-worker) of my husband and she has become a friend to us both.

She completed her Ph.D. in March. and last weekend I was able to get some shots of her in formal graduation attire.

Congratulations Dr. Annie!

Praying for Poop

I just have to share this story.

I spoke with a friend of mine yesterday and she got a dog a couple of months ago. I think he must be about 4 or 5 months old now, but he is less than two pounds. He'll only be about four pounds and here he is:

So yesterday when I spoke with my friend, she told me that she had lost her diamond earring in the house and couldn't find it anywhere and since she has been going through a really tough time, she was upset. I asked her if Joey could have eaten it and she said she wasn't sure and that he had been coughing.

Well, she left me a message last night saying that he pooped and not only did the earring come out, but the backing too!

Just Launched!

After working on this for some time, my site is finally up and running! I am so excited about it. It still needs work, but I at least wanted to get it up and running!

Arizona - Day 3

Arizona is just filled with beautiful places! Everywhere we went, I wished I had brought my "real" camera. Sedona has some amazing places to take pictures. This location was just on the other side of a creek - there were about 10 photographers with their tripods lined up to get this shot. I even saw a couple with a photographer (I'm assuming it was their engagement shoot). Here's the shot I took with my point-and-shoot (and though I missed my camera, my shoulders are glad I didn't bring it).

Here's a picture I took at the Palatki ruins. I thought it looked like one of the scenes from Lord of the Rings. There were petroglyphs here, which were so amazing to see.

Arizona - Day 2

The day before it snowed, but on this particular morning, I woke up to a perfectly clear (but very cold) day. The Grand Canyon was gorgeous (and quite grand) but honestly, it didn't look real to me. It almost looked like a huge painting was placed behind what I could see. Nonetheless, it was a magnificent sight to see.

Right before we left, a California Condor was flying through the canyon and it stopped and started showing off.

Arizona - Day 1

The Cow:

Last week, AJ (my husband) and I went to Arizona. Our main purpose in going was to pick up our 1/4 of a cow that we ordered from a ranch (I first got the idea from Jon & Kate Plus 8 and figured if they could do it, we could too). We ordered it from Date Creek Ranch in Wickenburg (www.datecreekranch.com) and since we were heading out there anyways, we decided to stop by a few places that weren't on the way, but places I had always wanted to go.

Flagstaff is awesome:

When we arrived there, it was snowing! Living in Southern California my whole life, I have rarely seen in snow (and when it did, I was in the mountains). Our first day, we went to Sunset Crater Volcano and walked through the lava. I have never seen so much lava - big, black chunks.

These are trees that were uprooted by the lava. I thought they were beautiful.

On our way to the Wupatki ruins, we were able to see the Painted Desert off in the distance. The way the light hits the different angles brings out a myriad of colors.

The ruins were interesting. There were very few people - it was windy and cold.

That night we went to Picazzo's for pizza (www.picazzos.com). Being gluten-free makes pizza (especially when it's good pizza) a rare treat for me. And I even got a gluten-free cookie for dessert. Yum.

Note: all images from my trip are shot with my Sony point-and-shoot.

Where I've been

A little over a month ago, I lost my full-time job and I cannot even describe the feelings I experienced from this. This wasn't even a blessing in disguise, just a pure blessing. The place was awful, and some of the people were even worse. I am very thankful to no longer work there. When I worked there, I would have nightmares and now I'm pretty much nightmares free. Although, I did have one recently where a woman that I worked with made me come back to work there. I'm so thankful it was just a dream.

About three weeks ago, something happened with one of my friends. He basically became very, very ill and my husband and I were doing all that we could to help him, especially since he was hospitalized for part of it. During this time, I really considered myself blessed to have lost my job. As I never would have been able to do all that I did had I been working.

Thankfully, my friend is starting to do much better and my life has returned back to "normal", as I continue to look for work and work on my business.

Jeff & Chelsee

Almost a month ago (I'll explain why I haven't blogged in a while in another post) I did a shoot with Jeff and Chelsee, who are an adorable couple. They were so fun to shoot and the pictures came out fabulously.

Here are a few:

Aren't they a cute couple?
